In September 2019, the research website Statista published a study titled Number of Violent Crime Victims in the United States by Gender 2005-2018. In 2018, the numbers of male and female victims of violent crime were about equal: 1,615,610 versus 1,638,640 respectively. Prior to that, the number of female victims of violent crime was always lower than that of male victims. But over the 13-year course of the study, male victimization decreased while female victimization increased, until finally equalizing in 2018.
